Silhouette® Blinds

Luxaflex Silhouette Shades are a unique and stylish window covering that offers a luxurious sence of contemporary glamour. They combine transparency with the sun protection of a traditional Venetian blind or voiles/nets. Soft floating vanes allow you to control the incoming light intensity and create a bright and warm atmosphere. Once open, they provide an unobstructed view outside and when closed they provide privacy.

Operation

Endless cord

The standard operation consists of an endless cord with cord weight colour coordinated to the Silhouette® shade. The length of the cord is dependent on the drop of the Silhouette® shade:

Product drop Length of cord loop
30 cm – 90 cm 60 cm
90 cm – 150 cm 90 cm
150 cm – 210 cm 120 cm
210 cm – 240 cm 150 cm
240 cm – 300 cm 180 cm

Alternate lengths of the cord loop are available (in white only). The extra long lengths are 180 cm/ 210 cm/ 240cm/300 cm/360 cm.

As standard a transparent cord tensioner, which can be fixed to the frame, is supplied with the blind. When the cord weight is attached to the cord tensioner, the cord hangs close to the side of the Silhouette® shade, thereby reducing the risk of a child or an animal becoming entangled in the cord, making the blind safer and able to continue to be operated.

Further characteristics are:

  • The slats can be tilted only when the Silhouette® shade has been completely lowered (slats tilt to one side only)

  • Operation can be either on the left or the right side as required.

Silhouette® with PoweRise®

Silhouette® with PowerRise®

PowerRise® is the latest feature in optimal operational comfort. With this battery operated motorised system, no hardwiring is necessary. The controls are powered by standard batteries. PowerRise lets you raise, lower and adjust the vane angle with a single remote control handset.

The batteries will last more than a year with regular use and can be easy accessed for removing and changing. The remote control has two channels to allow you to individually operate multiple shades in the same room.

The Memory Stop feature allows the shade to be set so that it raises to the same height every time. To override the Memory Stop, push the up-button on the remote control for five seconds.

An optional external eye to receive the infrared command beams and an external battery wand are available if required.

Measuring for your Silhouette Blind

MEASURING IS FREE ON EVERY BLIND ORDER PLACED FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND!

All we need to begin with is an approximate measurement for your window so that we may best advice you with style and prices.

  1. Measure from the top of the window (inside the window reveal) to the window sill.
  2. Measure the width of the window from side to side (inside the window reveal)

This rough measurement will give us enough information to enable us to help you. Once you have placed your order, our fitter will make an appointment to visit you to check measure each window to ensure your blind fits perfectly every time.

Practical Tips for Silhouette Blinds

Practical tips

  • The bottom rail must be able to turn freely during tilting. Because the bottom rail hangs directly above the windowsill or the floor, the drop must be measured accurately, particularly for "in the recess" installations. For the correct fitting and operation, it is recommended that all dimensions are accurately measured and rounded down.

  • It is of the utmost importance that the length and width are measured absolutely accurately. Once the Luxaflex® Silhouette® shade has been made, the dimensions cannot be altered.

  • Filler blocks and extension brackets can be used for installation to create extra space. This may be necessary because window catches and latches can prevent the free movement of your Luxaflex® Silhouette® shade. A maximum of 38 mm extra clearance can be created with filler blocks and a maximum of 76mm with extension brackets.

  • When installing the headrail with end supports, the maximum width of a Luxaflex® Silhouette® shade should be 125 cm. It is important to indicate that the shade will be fitted in this way, because special provisions have to be made for this in manufacture.

Cleaning

Luxaflex® Silhouette® shades look vulnerable but in fact they are very durable. Regular dusting with a feather duster is usually sufficient to keep the shade clean and attractive for a long time.

More thorough dusting can be achieved with a hand-held vacuum cleaner at the lowest setting. Drag the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner to the side of the fabric so that the dirt between the front and back of the shade is collected. You can also use a hair dryer on the coolest setting for this to blow the dust out of the side of the fabric.

Stubborn dirt and stains can be removed by immersing the product in a bath (max. 30°C) with a non-synthetic detergent. Then rinse with clean water, hang it up and allow to dry with the slats in the closed position.

TAKE CARE! To not get the headrail wet.

If the shade is wider than the bath, you can wipe the fabric with a soft sponge or have it cleaned by a professional cleaning company with ultrasonic cleaning techniques.

All Luxaflex® Silhouette® shade fabrics are made from 100% polyester, which means that they are hard-wearing and strong. Always clean carefully and avoid creasing the fabric, especially where the slats are attached to the voile facings. Should creases occur, these will usually fall out after a short time.

TAKE CARE! Do not iron Silhouette Shades
